I recently became more involved with social media as a result of my business. What I have noticed is that with a good percentage of interactions, I can find a thought or message that represents learning. A subject of continued conversation is the thought or idea of starting over. The idea itself can be a productive one for an individual in need of having a new beginning. The problem becomes when the person who needs a new start but needs a new start after new start etc. That is not what I think of when I think of new beginnings. I saw a post the other evening which said something along the lines of “I feel like packing up and moving to a new city in a new state.” My first thought was, what will be different? Many times we think it’s the place that we need changed, but really it’s us in need of changing. Think about it. Wherever I go, I take myself along for the ride. This holds true in every aspect of life. I cannot get away from who I am. In that case, I think it is in our best interest to look deep within ourselves and change those things which lead us to the same circumstances time after time. My traumas, prejudices, cultural norms, are all a part of who I am. I bring them along with every interaction. I am on a journey of self improvement. I am always trying to do better; although, it is difficult to look at the person in the mirror, holding him accountable at times. I continue to move forward putting the appropriate effort to change realizing the place doesn’t matter so much as what is within the individual.
